Mission
Education Foundation of the Summit is dedicated to supporting the public school students and teachers in Summit County by:
- Encouraging creativity through the Eileen Finkel Innovative Teacher Grant Awards
- Growing enthusiastic readers with Innovative Reading Programs
- Challenging learning in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math).
- Supporting students with scholarships
- Strengthening partnerships with school parent-teacher organizations, the School District and the community
History
Education Foundation of the Summit was founded by a group of parents who were concerned that state funding was insufficient to ensure that our children receive the education they deserve. They joined together to found an organization that would supplement state funding with private donations that are directed at creative and innovative projects. Our Board of Directors is an all-volunteer group of parents and local community members. Education Foundation of the Summit funds go directly to innovation in public school programs—creativity, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math), and innovative classroom technology. We also provide scholarships for high school seniors.

We are an organization that celebrates the cultural strengths of Summit County, Colorado. EFS does not and shall not discriminate in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, the awarding of grants and scholarships, partnering in the community, hiring and firing vendors and contractors, selecting volunteers, and providing services.
As an organization and Board of Directors, we agree to be guided by these principles and pledge that they will be reflected in our vision, mission, strategic planning, programming, governance, and board composition.
