“I am very excited to join the Education Foundation of the Summit. I’m honored,” said Laura Lewark, EFS’s newest board member.

Laura looks forward to providing another voice for the trades community. “Trades are a great way to make a good living. Not every child is meant to go to college, and that’s OK.” She also represents local business as her family owns and runs Ski Country Auto Repair and Towing.

Laura, her husband Larry, and her children are Summit High School graduates. Her daughter is a high school teacher, which Laura says helps her appreciate all teachers. Laura’s son is not pursuing a college degree and he is training to be a commercial pilot. She often reminds them of Wayne Gretsky’s quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you take,” and feels that it pertains to everyone. “It also relates to me joining the board,” she said.

Laura and her family sponsor the Lewark Family Scholarship for students pursuing a technical trade. She will continue to serve on the scholarship committee.
